Long Island City is an ever-changing hodgepodge of glassy towers, framed row homes, brick multi-families, and warehouses perched on the edge of the East River. It was incorporated in 1870 as its own city comprising the villages of Astoria, Ravenswood, Dutch Kills, Hunters Point, Blissville, Middleton, Sunnyside, Steinway, and Bowery Bay, later annexed in the 1898 to New York City with the rest of the outer boroughs. The ease of getting to Midtown is unbeatable: whether it’s via subway, ferry, or your own two feet. I have friends who walk over the Queensboro Bridge to get to their offices on the regular. There are two sub-neighborhoods of LIC: Hunters Point, which is closest to the water, and Court Square, which is near the infamous Citibank Building (which is now known as 1 Court Square and says Altice at the top). Generally speaking, Long Island City is expensive in comparison with other Queens neighborhoods, with new luxury buildings sprouting up every other day.

Milo’s tip: Get the family special, but if you ever go with Milo just be forewarned that he will eat all the hotdogs out of the Salchipapas. He can’t help it.
